This Year -
This web page is not about me (Steve), but I am the one that gets to put it together thus I will probably end up talking in the “first person” so excuse me Mr. Harms (my old high school grammar teacher.)
It is hard to believe another year has flown by. I thought as you got older you got slower. Contrary to that opinion, I must be a world class athlete just coming into my prime, because I whipped through this year faster than any before. Wait a minute, hold the “Gold Medal”’ maybe TIME is just going by faster. I am getting older, these complex issues confuse me and AS USUAL I digress.
It would be hard to cover the year on one page so I will hit some highlights here and add other pages for Debbie, Chancy and myself.
The year started out at 12:01 AM January 1st, 2010, it was 4 degrees F with a 30 mph wind out of the northwest and a minus 25 degree F wind chill factor. BOY this is going to be a long page, I better skip something!
We are still on the ranch near Valentine, NE. We either like it here or are too broke to go elsewhere and the truth be known it is probably a little bit of each. Of course now it is just Debbie and myself, with Chancy away for college and now teaching and Kim and her family living in Winterset, Iowa.
We keep busy, sometimes too busy and other times not busy enough, with our summer wrestling camps, lodging rental, college team retreats and some Spring turkey hunters and Fall deer and waterfowl hunters. Our old recreational habits still occupy our time with me and Chancy loving to hunt or fish anytime we can and Debbie still enjoys her softball and going on many trips to visit our daughter and grandchildren and stopping by to visit with Chancy along the way. Don’t tell Chancy, but by staying at his place she doesn’t need to get a motel and it breaks up the drive, otherwise she might drive on through. We each added a few new interests since the last time we did a Christmas web page or letter, but I will cover that on our individual pages.
The only big complaint for the year is about ME from THEM. As usual I come up with some hair brained ideas or projects. I still somehow seem to keep them talked into thinking it MUST be a good idea or at least I am still able to drag them into the process. Maybe they just feel sorry for me l and figure I’ll have a heart attack if they don’t pitch in and help. And they also know that if they don’t help I am a little bit on the stubborn side and will go ahead and do it anyway. I actually told myself this year that I have to stop doing this. Lets see if I remember next year. Here is an example:
